VRA Achieves Great Success with Exercise 'Da Woho So' 2023

As part of efforts to test Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP), the Volta River Authority (VRA) in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) have undertaken a flood simulation exercise dubbed: VRA EPP EXERCISE “DA WOHO SO” 2023.

Exercise “Da Woho so” 2023, undertaken in three of the nine districts likely to be impacted following the operationalization of the Akosombo and Kpong Dams, witnessed a seamless collaboration and co-ordination among state agencies including the National Ambulance Service, Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Ghana Police Service (GPS), the National Signals Bureau, the Ghana Army, Ghana Navy and the Marine Police, with support from the US Embassy and the North Dakota National Guard.

The simulation exercise, which took place at Asuogyaman, North Tongu and Ada East districts of the Eastern, Volta and Greater Accra regions had the main objective of testing VRA’s notification system, and the concomitant responds by the participating agencies including the Ghana Police Service, National Ambulance Service, Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Navy, Marine Police, etc.

The exercise involved total voluntary and compulsory evacuations, and search and rescue.
